Importance of the Church's Social Doctrines

It is necessary to remind ourselves that we are in a war. Perhaps, the Old Testament has told lot of stories about battles to engrave in our mind of what has been happening from the beginning of man's struggle with sin.

Also, it is greatly beneficial for us to read what the saints and the Magisterium have written for they have mapped out for us tested spiritual battle plans that we can gradually incorporate in our daily lives.

To have the mind of Christ in dealing with social matters straightens our ways and strips us of unchristian social ways regardless of its cultural origin. At the same time, it also reinforces us in using systems that we Filipinos have been using and what can also be learned from other countries. Acknowledgement of every man's equal dignity, as always emphasized by our Catholic social doctrines, is a crucial factor that prevents us from believing of one race's superiority over the others, and it promotes the treasuring of what our identity is as Filipinos.

Man's need for Christ's message should always stir us to communicate to others what we have learned. I consider myself blessed to be able to find groups who have dedicated themselves in sharing and learning God's Word. First, it makes spreading the message and learning easier knowing that we participate to hear from each other. Secondly, it gives us hope knowing that we are not alone in pursuing our goals. It is because of these reasons that we should encourage ourselves, to participate in bible study groups and to join Catholic Internet eGroups. For the learnings we have acquired and our active sharing will inspire each other to delve deeper in social consciousness.

May the Lord bless you for sharing the Gospel to others!

Your brother in Christ,
eric
